This workshop has a specific purpose of preparing HR practitioners to deal with pay compression caused by increases in minimum wage. It will offer practical solutions to address a "ripple effect" for groups of more experienced employees and establish internal equity between workers in similar job classifications. The workshop will offer group activities helping participants understand the impact of inequities in the organization, and methodologies to resolve these inequities through systematic pay adjustments.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

Attendees will learn how to:

- Understand recent trends, legal environment, and concepts of internal pay equity, compression, and pay distribution.

- Examine consequences of pay compression and disproportionate pay assignments that create dissatisfaction, turnover, and inequities.

- Apply practical solutions of mitigating or eliminating inequities in pay between employees within the same job classifications.

- Examine tools and techniques that can be critical in designing compensation systems and practices to avoid pay compression.
